KINGSPORT, TN - Ask locals where to find outdoor dining in Kingsport and one might get directions to a restaurant that doesn't actually have it. Meanwhile, Fusion at Ridgefields has been quietly seating guests on a nearly 50-seat patio for five years, and the people who find it keep coming back to tell others.

"It surprises me how often people don't know we're here," said Kathleen Joaquin, co-owner of Fusion at Ridgefields. "I'll hear from guests who searched for outdoor dining in Kingsport and were sent somewhere else entirely. We have one of the nicest patios in the area and somehow we're still the best kept secret in town."
Diners who do discover the patio tend to say so. The restaurant's Google reviews are filled with variations on the same theme: "hidden gem," "you are missing out," "shhhh but you need to try this place." More than a few reviewers have gone out of their way to mention the setting, describing an atmosphere that feels removed from the bustle of the city even though the restaurant is only minutes from downtown Kingsport.

The food draws equal attention. Regulars return for the shrimp tacos, creative Tex-Mex dishes, and a cocktail program that earns consistent praise. Sunday brunch has built its own following, with guests citing it as one of the better brunch experiences in the Tri-Cities area.
Fusion at Ridgefields serves a menu that mixes Tex-Mex, Italian, and American cuisine, with a full bar and brunch service on Sundays. The restaurant sits near Ridgefields Country Club on Pendragon Road, tucked far enough off the main corridor that first-time visitors often describe the experience as stumbling onto something they weren't expecting to find.
The patio seats nearly 50 guests and is open through the summer season. Ownership says it is the kind of space that tends to sell itself once people see it, and that the bigger challenge has always been getting them there in the first place.
With summer arriving, ownership is hoping more Kingsport diners will find their way to the patio before the season passes.
"There is no better place to spend a summer evening in Kingsport," Joaquin said. "We just need people to know we exist."
