Habermehl Contracting and Crossroads Counselling Team Up to Create a Designed Wellness Centre in Hammonds Plains

Late in 2023 Amy Wiens, Founder and Practice Lead of Crossroads Counselling & Psychological Services, brought a challenge to Habermehl Contracting. She and her husband, Bryan, were purchasing a building in Hammonds Plains to host her practice. However, the building in its current format did not suit her practice.

"We knew we needed a space that was designed for both functional confidentiality, as well as for visual beauty," says Amy Wiens, Practice Lead. After discussions with the Habermehl team, a design was agreed on that enabled the space to be divided into 9 offices. The offices were to have enhanced sound-proofing measures including sound-proofed insulation, SONOpan panels, resilient channels, and embedded noise masking, ensuring the top-of-the-line products for sound-proofing and confidentiality. Additionally, they would feature custom trim, lighting, and flooring. 

Amy reiterates, “As people enter the space, we want them to feel comfortable and safe. By designing for function and visual appeal, people inherently feel that they are not in a generic public office space. They know they are in a safe environment where their wellness is the only priority.” 

Over four months, Habermehl's team went to work making the designs a reality. 

"I was impressed with the Habermehl team's work," says Bryan Wiens, Director of Operations. "They delivered the project on time and schedule. The project manager, Anna, did a great job of communicating and working with us through the decisions and rollout. I would recommend them unconditionally."

With the project now completed, the Crossroads Counselling team is using the space to provide the best in mental health counseling to clients.

Crossroads Counselling is a psychological practice in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. It was founded in 2018 by Amy Wiens. As the practice leader, Amy brings over 14 years of clinical experience.
