Disability Van Campaign Aims to Restore Independence and Hope for Beloved Survivor

A remarkable survivor known affectionately as “Miracle Mama” is inspiring a growing community movement to help fund a specially modified disability camper van that will restore her independence and help continue her incredible journey of recovery. Through the support of family, friends, and generous donors, the campaign is now seeking the final $19,000 needed to complete the transformation of a Roadtrek camper van into a fully accessible “Miracle Mama-mobile.”
Miracle Mama’s story is one of extraordinary courage. Having survived wartime conditions as a child, scarlet fever, multiple strokes, and a devastating one-in-a-million medical complication that left her disabled, she continues to fight every day with resilience and hope. Despite limited mobility, she has regained use of her right arm and hand and remains determined to keep progressing through rehabilitation and therapy.
Last summer, her family rented a disability-accessible Winnebago ROAM van, giving Miracle Mama a taste of freedom she had not experienced in years. The experience transformed her emotionally, physically, and spiritually. She was able to attend medical treatments, visit the beach, enjoy nature trails, participate in outdoor events, and reconnect with life beyond the walls of her home. The impact was so profound that loved ones began searching for a permanent solution.
Thanks to the compassion of Mark Maupin and the nonprofit organization Driving Successful Lives, more than half the project has already been completed. The organization purchased the van and helped raise over $12,000 for a remanufactured engine and accessibility renovations. Supporters are now invited to help complete the final phase of modifications so Miracle Mama can continue her mission of spreading joy, hope, and encouragement to others.
